WOLVES IN DETAIL
John Player & Sons were tobacco and cigarette manufactures founded in Nottingham in 1877, by coincidence the same year as Wolves. The company was incorporated into Imperial Tobacco in 1901 but the name was retained for certain products and in the 1920's and 1930's they issued trading cards for numerous differing collectable groups. They produced two sets of football cards in this time both of which saw Wolves represented.
1929 - Association Cup Winners

The series of 50 cards featured head and shoulder miniature photographs of all players in FA Cup winning teams from 1883 through to 1929 along with photographs of the two FA Cup final trophies to that point and the medals. Each card measured 67mm x 36mm is size.
The Wolves FA Cup winning teams of 1893 and 1908 were featured in the set - No's 14 & 31
1928 & 1929 - Footballers

This series of cards featured drawings representing footballers, some from the Rugby code. They were issued in two series of 50 each and measured 67mm x 36mm in size. Wolves were not represented in the first series and had only one player in the second series as below.
