Chix Confectionery

     Chix Confectionery was a confectionery company based in Slough Berkshire which chiefly produced bubble gum which included cards in their packaging as incentives for the 'buyers'. 
     They produced cards from the mid-fifties through to the mid-sixties although the company continued to produce product until the early eighties. They produced a number of series of cards as detailed below.

1953 to 1955 - Famous Footballers - Series 1

     These were issued in two sets of 24 giving a total of 48 in total and could be displayed in an album. The first 24 had hand drawn images of the players whilst 25 to 48 were photographic images.
     Wolves were represented by three players in the series as below.

1956 - 1957 - Famous Footballers - Series 2

     48 players again for this series which again had their own album to display them. Wolves only had one player representing them, 26 - Peter Broadbent.

1958 - Famous Footballers - Series 3

     This series again had 48 players and once more had an album for the collection. Three players represent Wolves, those being 30 - Norman Deeley, 45 - Gerry Harris and 46 - Jimmy Murray.

1960 - Footballers - Series 1 & 2

     A new series was issued in 1960 this time with double images. 24 cards to each series Wolves players featured three times as detailed below.

1961-1962 - Famous Footballers

     The Famous Footballers series return for one final series which also was the last football card series issued by Chix. This time featuring 50 footballers and a slightly different size to the original series Wolves only representation was 50 - Billy Wright this despite him having retired in 1959 a couple of years before the series was issued.
